Rivers NOT Reservoirs

This is a new adventure for me. In the days and weeks that follow, I will be sharing thoughts and prayers, but mostly experiences - stories and testimonials - of how God is enabling me and others to be RIVERS and no longer RESERVOIRS of His resources.

It is time to go ALL IN. No longer can I sit and 'philosophize' or even criticize others. it is time to tear down the 'dam/Reservoir" (Yeah, I think I spelled that right). It is time to trust God - totally - and let the river flow.

One quick story.  I finished my morning quiet time praying..."Okay, Lord - I am hooking up the hose   and turning on the faucet. Let the flow of your resources flow through my life today"

A few hours later, we came out of Krogers and were loading our groceries into the car, when a man came up holding a child and said... "Excuse me sir, but I am homeless - could you help me out?" "What do you need?" "Anything you have will be appreciated".  So, while I am having this internal conversation about another guy begging etc. etc., Marybeth (my wife) reached into the cart and handed him a bag of fruit. "Can you use this/" "Thank you so much, ma'am".

And as I got in the car, God 'slapped me upside the head' (that's the way He responds to 'southerners') and asked me..... "So what about the flow?"  And as so many times before, I had to ask for His forgiveness, and yet thanked Him for showing me once again, how it works in the real world of His Kingdom.

"And next time Mark, don't be so focused on yourself that you miss what I want to do THROUGH you". "Remember, it wasn't you (er your wife) who gave the man some fruit, it was ME".

Yes, I DO want to be a RIVER.

Thanks for responding to the Lord's prompting to begin this blog.
I have been sensing the last few months to allow His river to flow through me. We are the Temple of His Holy Spirit. Why don't I allow Him to flow in and through me more often. Is it because I am spending too much time concerned about things for which I can not change which limits my availability to respond to the needs around me? Yes. 😔
