The Principle of the MORE
Professional athletes are seldom happy with the 'status quo' - no matter how good it gets. They always want more - touchdowns, baskets, home-runs, you name it. Let's face it, we are all caught in the quest for more. We have too small a closet for all of our clothes, so we remodel or move and get a bigger closet. But guess what? The principle of "the More' takes over and before you know it, that closet is full again.
It is said that John D. Rockefeller, one of the world's richest men around
the turn of the 20th Century was asked, How much is enough?,
to which he replied...... "A little bit more".
One MORE dollar, one more shirt, one more pair of shoes, one more bite of that ice cream,
or cheesecake, one more, one more, one more. "It's ONE". It reminds me of the cookie
monster - "I can stop at anytime". Why of course you can, except - DO YOU?
SO WHAT IS IT THAT DRIVES US TO MORE?
This and the next few blog posts I want to explore this concept.
I believe that this is at the heart of being a River and Not a Reservoirs.
I believe it is a significant touch point to our spiritual journey.
So here are a few random thoughts or questions - with MORE to follow over the next few weeks.
Which is it - More IS Less - or - Less IS More?
How much is enough?
Can that even be answered - or is it a relevant question?
I will be traveling to Lagos, Nigeria over the next two and a half weeks to
West Africa Theological Seminary to continue work on the Library Project
for the Seminary. I will attempt to bring you some updates of my time there.
