I recently heard the following statement:
"God's Word was not given to be understood, but OBEYED'

Simply understanding God's word is only one side of the issue - isn't it? It reminded me again of the battle going on each day in my life. So, I began to jot down some of the 'obeys or ebays' of my 'battles'.

  • Good vs Evil
  • To do vs Not to do
  • Yes vs No
  • Listen vs Ignore
  • Give vs Receive
  • Steward vs Owner
  • Release vs Retain
  • Open vs Close
  • Peace vs Angst
  • Confidence vs Fearfull
  • Humility vs Pride
  • Mine vs Yours
  • Others vs Me
  • Die vs Live
  • Give up vs Hold out
  • Love God vs Love Self
  • Obey vs Disobey (or Ignore)
  • River vs Reservoir
  • Dependent vs Independent

And I am sure that you could add to the list. And 'the point is?'
God's word - the one we are to obey - says:

“Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices,
As in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice.
1 Samuel 15:22

Lord, may today in EVERY way my life be OBEY not just Understand.
